Well unfortunatley a few of the members were right when they said that replaceing the top of a 5m-ge was not a good move cus it causes all sorts of problems with the rest of the engine........ :ffs:

the sarger.......finaly got the cams, new lifters and follows and fitted them all last night......she ran like a dream.....

went from Eynsham to carterton (8 miles) nice a steady back roads through stanlake etc. :hokus-pokus:

then came back down the A40 slightly faster but nothing drastic till i was sure she was ok

then back home again.....dropped the gear a couple of times and gave her a bit....no probs......

set of for work this morning did about 30 miles nice and easy ......onto the M40.....up to 70MPH and lock in the cruise control......3 minutes later BANG :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor:

the engine is beyond repair.....its F :censor: KED

so to the point.......have been offered a complete 5m-ge refurbished engine with all piping,,and ancilleries.....dizzy cap, ht leads etc.....for 300 notes........thats with a 3 month warrenty on all major parts thrown in and delivery........sounds good to me just want to know what the peeps thought...........

go for the £300 notes buddy unless you want to pay one hell of a lot more but end up with a monster....

that road from kingston bagpuss to stanlake to witney is a dream when clear, i don't know much about prices really but that sounds reasonble to me

that roads a peach when you have a decent car and its running at its best........best run down that road was in a mates cobra replica at about 3am in the morning.......need i say any ;more :)

looks like its going to have to be the 300 note engine........not bad really for a guenteed engine i suppose........thanks to TCB (AGAIN) :group-cuddles:
