Ae92 Upgrades

Okidoke....so first thing's first:

I have a 1989 AE92 Corolla SR5 Coupe 5 speed.

It currently has the stock 4A-F carb engine in it.

I'm curious as to suggestions for cheap mod's to do to it for now. Anything from engine to suspension.

I say "cheap" and "right now" because in a year or less I'm going to purchase a 3S-GTE engine to swap into it, which will be getting fully rebuilt from the ground up anyways.

Which brings me to my next topic:

What are the mod's needed to turn my carb AE92 into an EFI with the 3S-GTE(And would it be effective to make that change-over now in preperation for the swap). As well, what generations of the 3S-GTE will fit in an AE92 (And what year it was made in if anyone knows, please). A 3rd Gen would be ideal, but

Of what I AM aware of, the tranny will likely need replacement to handle the extra power (was thinking along those lines anyways) as well several other modifications will be required to mount everything up, etc.

I'm looking for input, suggestions, info (on the swap), rough price quotes would be convenient, but if possible state if they're in USD or CAD (I'm Canadian). And no, money isn't really a factor.

Also, if anyone has any links for great places to go, that would be awesome.

I await constructive input and likely some criticism as well. But help from the Guru's of this forum is most appreciative.

Take a look here to see what TOC member Dawsey has done. You'll also find stuff on his website.

Sweet. Thx SR. ^^ Those give me a base idea of what needs to be done.

Now the hard part is figuring out what I'll need to do to change it from a carb to EFI. :S

From what I am led to believe is that all you would need to do is change the head. The 4A-FE is basically the economy version of the 4A-GE. I could be totally wrong.

Could be quite complex because of the different emmissions legislation over your way (not sure if you guys are regulated like the states???) If you do change your head it would probably be worthwhile sourcing the parts from your continent as there would be fewer changes and mods.

Check out Club 4A-GE - Link Click Here for more info too.

It it's the version I'm thinking of, then it looks more like a levin than a corolla. It's not a hatch, but instead a coupe with a trunk.

Argh! Ok, slight difficulty with gettin pic's to show right now. And I'm too tired to chase the net for a place to stick them. Basically my car is a notchback (Two door coupe). It's a NON-hatchback. Still has the flip-up-style headlights.

I'll try tomorrow(Tomorrow for me atleast) to get pic's up cause I don't have the energy to think tonight.
