Tail Lights

the tail/brake lights on my car have always been problematic. the light clusters let water in quite badly, so the connections get wet and the bulbholders are quite corroded. i usually go through a brake/tail light on each side about every 6 weeks.

however, when i got home from driving somewhere last night and was reversing it on the drive i found that only 1 brake light was working, and neither of the tail lights were illuminated (its the same bulb). so i changed both bulbs today and now both brake lights work, but only one tail light (the side that the brake light worked on originally). with the other one, you have to push the bulb down to get a connecetion - or at least you did. after 20 mins of trying i now can't seem to get it to work at all. yet it works fine on the brake.

tbh, usually id just leave it, but the MOTs due on the 20th or something. the bulb holder can't be stripped down, and id have no idea how to wire in a new one, if that's even possible. any ideas??
