Give Your Rev3 The Afterburner Look

Recommended Posts

So I have been thinking more about the buying of the Rev3 Turbo I have set my heart on - it looks like it's going to be black, as Caribean Blue ones appear to be rare as rocking horse !Removed!.

So, I look at the pictures, and I like the new light clusters, but there is something about them that I dislike, while they give the afterburner look, with the red parts in between it isn't quite achieved properly.

Therefore, how about getting light tinting spray, and spraying up the area between the two back lights on each side and the indicators? Giving a black look to the whole of the car, except the afterburner lights at the back.

Simple, yet effective...

(and nonMOTable)

Wouldn't that make it illegal as they are the reflectors which are an MOT requirement

Yes, it would make your car fail an MOT (as I mentioned)

Still, it would look good (in my opinion)

You can take the stuff off with a light solvent before the MOT and re apply afterwards, or place reflectors elsewhere on the back of the car!

Unfortunately it only really works on black cars.

Apologies, I didn't see the nonMOTable bit at the bottom...

IMHO yes it would look good (I think), would need ot see it to be sure....

You could always go for the rev6 afterburners :)

rhaines,

Do the Revision 6 lights pass the MOT. I though I heard somewhere that the reflectors weren't good enough??

Here's a quick pic to give you an idea of what it might look like....

yup they pass the mot, the company I work for owns a couple of garages and I asked the engineers after some posts on another forum asking whether or not they would pass..

The problem is not with the reflectors but the brake lights can look a bit white under some circumstances....

My MOT proper is in about 8 weeks so will post results then...

Presumably this is due to the fact they use LED's rather than bulbs. Thanks for the feedback, looking forward to hearing your report.

the brake lights are actually bulbs, it is the stanadrd lights that are led's. The rear bulbs are dipped in red stuff (can't remember name of it) which seems not to be dark enough in certain light....

Still look the puppies plums though...

where can u get the rev6 rear lights? is it a genuine mr t part or do u go to an aftermarket specialist?

and how much are they?

Revision 6 is a company setup by a guy called Patrick, he is in the process of setting up a number of midifications for the Mk2 MR2, the Rev 6 lights are the first of which to go to market.

If I remember correctly they're £370 and can be ordered online from his company, it's worth checking out his website at www.revision6.com. The kit is top notch, fitting instructions are easy to follow and installation takes no time at all...

If you go for the LED option like mine you also have the opion of reflectors for the insde loop (llo at pick of mine or a blank clear oval to match the LED's. A word of warning if you go for the clear you will need to fit reflector's somewhere on the car to pass an MOT, if you go for the reflective circle it will pass an MOT.

Hope that helps. Any further info just give us a shout.
