Avensis 98 Alarm Problem

Hi,

At last I have found the fabled 'black box' for the TVSS sensor. It isn't the one behind the glovebox, which is the main alarm control box. It is the one behind the drivers lower dash panel (UK model) just about where your left knee goes.

The box is retained by two phillips screws but you can get to the adjuster by prising out the 4 x 1.5cm cover plate. Remove the grommet and adjust anti-clockwise to desensitise the TVSS. Hopefully this will stop the thing going doolally on hot days.

I tried all the other tricks such as changing fob batteries and disconnecting the main Battery for for more than 1 hour to drain the residual curent but it still had the fault. Fingers crossed !

I have a photo of it but can't attach it here. Will try to make it my login picture so you can see it.

Have fun.

If you wish to show pictures in your post, visit www.photobucket.com You can upload pictures to that site, then create links in your posts to them so that they automatically display.

If you post a picture on photobucket, it even gives you the correct IMG commands to copy and paste into your posts.

So you can do this...
