If anyone needs help at JAE - FEAR NOT!

**Supergirl theme plays in background!**

For I am now a qualified First Aider as of today - been out on a one-day course with the St John Ambulance!

Ok, so its really to be appointed First Aider at work, but can offer First Aid to other people too!

Am really pleased - learnt so much stuff today that I would never have thought of before! Even know what to do if I suspect my casualty is unconscious due to drinking.... which may well come in handy at JAE!

No nurses uniform provided though!:lol:

If you cut your finger, first off I will

assess the risk to myself and you

then I will see if you are conscious

if you are I will ask you questions, such as your name and where your pain is,

I will call for help if necessary

I will then assess the wound and treat effectively so as not to infect it.

Or.... in laymans terms

You'll get a plaster! (As long as your arent allergic to plasters of course! lol) :D :D

With many nasty diseases transmitted through saliva and airborne particles, are you provided with any barrier equipment in case you have to perform expired air resuscitation?

As a qualified First Aider you would be expected to get stuck in if someone curls their toes up in front of you.

I personally wouldn’t do mouth to mouth (unless it was a family member)

Just wondering if the organisation who taught you gave you any kit to take with you.

Like this...

Resusci-Aid

The thing you have to really be cautious about is a person who is bleeding.

You can get a face mask for Rescue Breathing and we were supplied with one today, but in a real life situation, someones there on the floor not breathing and unconscious, are you really going to say.... "Now where did I put my face mask?" NO! Your gonna get on with it and try and save that persons life!

Excellent, good work DA, always extremely useful information, lets hope you dont have to use it much.

Now you can add first aid to your TOC car namer qualification (& the others that I cant remember at the minute)
