My Hilux Smokes

my toyota hilux is diesel and when i start it in morning it smokes alot ( whitish smoke)

and then when the engine is hot the smoke stops. What could be the problem? What can i do for the smoke to stop? Please HELP!!!!

Have you any loss of power?

Has it over heated resently?

Is it using water?

i dont want to worry you here mate but it sounds like it could be the onset of the classic 2.4 hilux head crack but i hope not.

The 2.4 is basicly bullet proof apart from the origainal clyinder head cracks and about 30% of them do this.

To test if its the head you can have a cylinder leak test done.

Doesn't white smoke indicate water in the engine?

I was under the impression that cars smoked a little bit of white smoke when cold anyways, and it cleared up once warm....

Has it just started doing it recently, or has it been doing this a while?
