does anyone know if the vitz 1.0lt has got a built in rev limiter? ( factory rev limiter )

I imagine it will have a rev limiter to stop you over-revving it.

Dunno about installing a counter though. I imagine that one of the people with a petrol Yaris will tell you where the red line is marked on the rev counter.

Good luck!

They should have a rev limiter, as Alan said, just to stop you blowing the engine to pieces by over-revving it, and watching your pistons fly through the bonnet of your car....

:D

I've got a 1.0l yaris and the red line is at about 7-8k, but i don't think it likes being reved even close to that!

Yeh it's got a rev limiter. Mine redlines at about 6700 RPM. It doesn't have a tacho as such, so I have bought an Apexi RSM and installed it just below the speedo in the compartment. It's not the cheapest way of getting a tacho, but it's a bit different to everyone else on here :P However, Ismael has put a standard analogue tacho in his car in a pod, which is just as effective

I know that a rev de-limited is an option listed on the tdi site - so I guess that there must be ... give them a call and ask.

Fitting an aftermarket guage is no great shakes - any decent manufacturer will supply the sensor and good instructions. As usual with these things the cabling is the biggest pain...

I live on the limiter....

Kidding... i live in a town just outside it known as the redline!

Iv hit it a few times, no bother, it just bounces off... since adding apexi and manifold i can rev to about 68mph in 2nd before hitting the limiter!!

Done it a few times - usually when some idoit lorry driver decides to either not bother pulling out when Im joining the motorway or when they suddenly decideto close the gap for no reason...

It just kind of stops the power and drums until you realise ...

yea I have a jap built car and it has a limited, before I fitted the turbo I’d rev it just shy of it all the time, since I fitted the turbo the waste gate lets off the pressure before the limiter kicks in, it like having a shift light but its audioable (is that a word?) rather then visual. As we say here drive her like she is stolen

Yes, hitting the rev limiter isn't that big a deal, around 6700 but it seems like one the first time it happens. :D
