Tell you what, your situation sounds similar to mine. My radio stopped working suddenly about a month ago. It can pick up the FM stations but I get high noise to signal ratio. It can only tune to AM stations, though and the Tape works fine.

I have had it since 1999 although I understand that they are supposed to last the life of the car. I know I can not complain ... Can any one help WHERE CAN I BUY A SIMILAR RADIO LIKE THE ONE USED ON A YARIS. My Toyota dealer does no do radio spare. SOS

winstoneg, Bolton, UK.

or ebay mate. I know knightrider has one for sale at the mo

Thanks, Ross.

I 'd checked that one out, last night though. The bid then, was at 150 pounds.

My dealer says a new radio unit costs around 600 pounds.

And of course, if I decided to send it away to Bradford (3rd party repairs centre , I believe) I 'd incurr an initial charge of 55 pounds for carriage. Whether I decide to send it there or Toyota do it for me !

I know that there may be a middle way, somehow.

Thanks for all the help.

Has anyone looked into WHY these radio sets, have just started to fail ... NOW. Is it anyything to do with manufacture batch (component wise) or is it a software bug. Has Toyota issue a service bulletine or alert to this effect.

Any possible sources from around the Northwest, for these 'after market units'?
