Steering Judder When Breaking Between 70-50mph

Hi,

I have an Avensis 2001 CDX model - and have recently noticed the steering judders when breaking anywhere between 70 and 50 mpg. I had this problem when the car was in warrenty, took it back to the main dealer - I think they skimming the the discs (thats what they said), and was suprised that they did not replace them.

I would be grateful if someone could give me an idea of what could be wrong, or whether it could be the same problem again?

Thanks,

H.

could well be - there are a few posts here about this a known problem..... if you are going to take it back get them to replace disks skimming only makes it worse---eventually.

when the discs were skimmed you should have replaced the pads. not doing so will only be partially effective.. sounds like the same problem over again to me. I had mine done and did the pads at the same time and it's been fine ever since..

I agree with css...new disks, new pads, no bother.

known fault way back from 1996 toyota know and donot care pads on front are way to small and the heat from the discs causes them to warp and skimming will only last a few thousand miles hence not a fix car has a manufacturing fault and thus you need up rated after market pads and new discs
