Corolla Sr

i use to own a 98 Corolla sr and then i changed jobs and got a Puegeot 306dturbo for economy but blew the s**t out of it last week. i have decide also that the fuel economy wasnt that great. anyway i want to come back and am going to get another corolla. however i was looking at the SR with the facelift that came out in/around 2000 with the different lights and interior, as well as 6speed. Its also the vvti engine and i was just wondering what peoples advice is on which one is the better car.

Are you looking to modify it in any way? If so then I wouldn't recommend the facelift model. If not, the facelift model has abs and 6 gears, which I admit I'd like.

no not really looking to modify it at all, might think about a filter maybe but no intentions of doing much to it, quite like the look on the facelifted model as well, looks quicker than the old one. plus the mpg is suppose to be a bit better as but not sure if they are as good as the old ones

Yeah, I agree with philjones 1978; if you want to modify it then get a pre-facelift! Its really hard finding parts for the vvti engine!

I really like my car (facelifted SR) and prefer it to the older SR but obviously I would say that! It does have all the "trimmings though"! ..... ABS, A/C, Sunroof, 6 Speed! , Electric windows and mirrors... and a leather steering wheel! (haha knowlson!) lol

Not too sure on the mpg differences though!

Its the 1.6 VVTi not sure on the model number though..... its got 109 BHP like the 4AFE i think....

3ZZ-FE... 109 bhp @ 6000 rpm, 111 lb-ft @ 3800 rpm. The ZZ engines are a considerably more efficient design than the now 13 year-old Gen-II 4A/7A designs.
