I Hate Public Transport.....................

\RANT ON

Because my Rolla is being worked on this week I'm travelling to work by train. Monday and Tuesday were OK (ish) but today :censor: :crybaby::eek: :ffs: :help:

I left work at 4:20 for a 15 minutes walk to the station to get there in plenty of time for the 4:38 train from Barry to Cardiff. It didn't turn up. The next train at 5:10 didn't even stop at the platform just went straight through :censor: :censor:

The next one arrives later than it should and I get to Cardiff at 5:40 just one minute after my connection had left. I wait for the next one at 6:12 and that turns up at 6:28 and I get home at 6:50 - that's two and a half hours after I left the office. :ffs: :crybaby: :shutit: :censor:

It's only 13 miles and on a bad day I do that in the car in about 40 minutes.

It's no wonder the Government can't get more people using public transport with service like that.

Its all well and good the government trying to persuade (or should that be force?) us to use public transport instead of cars, but how can we when its blatantly PANTS?? :ffs:

I would quite happily use public transport if it was anygood but the reality is its rubbish and the goverment wants us all to leave our cars at home and use it, well sort it out first and make it work.

I was in Stockholm for 3 months a few years ago and thought about hireing a car but i didnt need to as the public transport system was so good, there was a train every few minutes and they very clean and didnt smell like a pub toilet, and the same with the buses.

Once we get a system like that i'll happily leave my car at home.

Exactly, if public transport worked well a lot more people would use it but its a thousand times more convenient to just jump in a car & drive to work than spend all morning waiting for buses to turn up etc.

Rather than balancing things out by making driving to work more difficult for people by hammering us with new charges and the like they should make it far less difficult and frustrating to use public transport instead

It wasn't too bad the first too days - made better by the fact that it didn't rain at all. It would have been FUN tonight if it had rained. There were more people waiting than would have fitted into the "shelter" on Barry Dock platform. This de-luxe accommodation has ten panels in the bottom of it and 6 of those are missing - wet legs all round - great eh?

That public toilet as you put it is my working environment. All I can say is who makes it smell + look like that?? If the peeps who use them left them the way we start in the morning, instead of using us as a baby's changing room, cafe, etc.

it would be alot better for me! If the :censor: did not decide to rip the seats out,

throw bricks at the windows, try to rob, assault us, we would be able to keep on the road. The average age of our buses in Manchester is now 2 months old, yet over 1/2 are at one point of the road through vandalism. So who's doing it me? or you who use the Bus??

At the end of the day WE can only be as good as YOU let us!!

Next time you use a bus think about it when you leave you paper, etc ,

on when you leave. :ffs:

I've got no complaints about buses mate - I don't use them. But I understand what you're saying. These are the type of people who have no respect for anyone's property including their own.

I hate it too, used to get the Bus to work and back (11 mile trip each way when you direct like I do) but the Bus goes right around the "houses" so to speak and it makes it a 40 minute trip! Crazyness..

So you would like all the other peeps who need to catch the same bus to walk god knows how many miles to a Bus stop so we can drive the shortest route??

Sorry to tell you this WE are Public Transport, Not a TAXI.

I'm guessing 1 of you work on public transport? I dont think anybody's having a go at the staff, its just so frustrating (I know 1st hand, I had to bus it to college then work for over 3 years) when you leave in good time in the morning and end up being extremely late when its got nothing to do with you.

I completely agree with you about the way some people treat public transport, there were loads of times I had to stand up for long journeys just because some :censor: :censor: had walked across a muddy field & put their filthy shoes all over seats or did stupid, pathetic things like cutting the padding out of seats etc, I couldnt help but think "how would these people like it if you did that to seats in their house?"

Bus stops is another thing too, I lost count of the amount of times I got off 1 bus, stood in a shelter that had had all its windows smashed & had to stand there getting battered by the elements until my bus came just because some :censor: thought it would be funny to smash them all.

And again WHO makes it public toilet

I work for First Group.

As unsafe they count things like ripped seats, Brake lights outs, bell not working!

No I didn't mean it that way.

What I meant was that FOR ME it makes the journey a lot longer than neccessary. Sure if I didn't live 11 miles away in the 1st place then yeah the journey wouldnt be so long anyway. I was just stating that it makes the journey a lot longer. Of course that is why Buses are called Public Transport. I know buses aren't a taxi too, I am not that daft.

Of course its not the drivers fault mate! Its the local authorities with their programming. My problem is with the timings only.

However, as I move further away from my village it vastly improves. ALL services run into Edinburgh, and I use this service lots as its better as Edinburgh is a nightmare for parking, but I need to get to a bus stop somewhere nearby that goes to the city. The timing of local buses and longer "express" buses isnt always best coordinated!

I can see what your saying and peoples attitudes need to change and people need to be educated and the justice system has to change and tougher laws to stop anti social behaviour.

I was aways brought up to respect the law and other peoples property and to be polite ive never damaged anybodys property intentionally or ever commited any sort of crime intentionally so if i and many many other can behave ourselfs and abide by the law why cant the minority and if they do break the law then give them a punishment they wont forget.

No one is blaming the bus drivers, train drivers etc, who I'm guessing work long hours, in, like you say, awful conditions sometimes and abuse hurled at them by Joe Public everyday.

But the Government needs to pull its finger out and invest more money in public transport for better buses and trains, better pay for the guys who staff them and harsher penalties for yobs who vandalise them.

Plus, it must be pretty hard sticking to schedules all day! People expect the bus to be on time to the minute when its really not possible!

Transport is always going to be a problem in the future with technology changing and work styles, numbers changing.

seem to have a little bee in your bonnet there mate :D i dont think anyone here is having a go at bus DRIVERS its the public transport system too much money goes to shareholders and not enough spent on essential maintenance.

take trains 4 example (change of subject quickly) as soon as they were privatised the new money men decided that a train lines lifespan was now DOUBLE!! what it was previous to privitisation. i have lots of friends who work on the railways - maintenance welders etc and they do NOT travel on trains because they value their lives

No matter how much money is put into public transport,

they will still be wrecked by mindless vandals :ffs:

At the end of the day, You get on the Bus, Train,

And the first person you see (in my case) is me.

If I am running late, the one in front as been taken of the road,

Who gets it in the neck?? ME!!

Been driving now for 5 years and now "core"

Love the job but some days come home and wonder why I do it!

It still boils down to the peeps who use us to let us get on with.

And leave things as they are .
