The Oil Paradox For 2zzge Engine Of Tsport

Our Corolla user’s manual recommends oil SAE 5w30 for environment temperature that may exceed 38C for all Corolla engines except of the 1.8lt 2zzGE of T Sport, where it is recommended only up to 10C.

It is not a typing error. Toyota has inserted an additional Table just to highlight this difference!

The paradox is fully established considering the fact that oil 10w30 is normally equivalent to 5w30 for summer use but it is recommended for the 2zzGE engine for environment temperature that may exceed 38C! So, should we conclude that the 5w (winter) spec makes the 5w30 oil inappropriate for above 10C?

Then what about 5w40, which is the only fully synthetic oil provided by Toyota Hellas at its authorized service stations? Why this would be OK for use above 10C?

I think Toyota should explain to customers the reasons for this 2ZZGE oil paradox, since we have the right to know how to preserve the long lifetime of our cars.

I have no response from Toyota Europe or Hellas to these questions in the last 3 months!

The dealer puts 10w40 in mine at a service, despite that not being in the manual at all.
