Thunk On Deceleration...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

'90 Camry, 3S-FE 2.2L 4-cylinder engine. I just bought it, and lately when driving it will occasionally make a sharp metallic "thunk" on deceleration, which can be felt in the brake pedal. It feels like inboard CV joints to me. Happens only intermittently and often after going around a sharp turn. A slight thunk of similar feel can be experienced when putting the car into reverse.

What do you think?

Sounds like a motor mount. The inboard CV joints (actually tri-pots) hardly ever go.
