I took the Hi-Lux for its MOT yesterday Although its not due for almost another month and TBH i wasnt expecting it to pass as it sometimes pumps out a big black cloud from the exhaust and the rear shock has a slight leak (but i have a full set of off road shocks to go on just havent had time to fit them).

During the test it failed the smoke test but the tester said to me dont worry about it as he would sort that for you as he used to work on Hi-lux's for 10 years and said it was a common problem with imports set for the japanesse emissions test and could be sorted in second.

So he gets out his spanners and slightly adjusts the fuel pump and then did the smoke test again and it passes easily.

he also let the shock pass as it was still working and in his opinoin would last a year.

On taking the car home whatever he did it has transformed the car it has better acceleration it smoother and theres hardly any black smoke.

So i'll be taking the car back there next year .

The Garage is Fengate MOT station in Peterborough all they do is MOT's and nothing else which i like about them as ive taken some of my old other cars to these places that do brakes, tyres, exhausts, and MOT's and they have always make out that you will need one of the parts they do in the near future where like Fengate MOT have no motive to fail the car as it wouldnt profit them to do so, so it it fails or they advice something on the car then it needs it.

Another thing i like about them is the helper who sits in the car does not wear overalls and is kept very clean so you dont come out with grubby hand prints over the car.

Its nice to see an example of good service - something which is rare these days!

I do the same thing - take my car to a MOT only station - because they are not gonna rip you off, it costs that bit extra but the service is worth it
