Welcome and a nice job on the conversion.

Can I ask why you have used a camry v6 gearbox rather than the usual MR2 turbo one?

Stright swap, no %$(ing around with selectors, and matching halfshafts. Takes the power, and readily excepts other gear ratios from st202's and mr tubbys etc etc

and it was free from a low miler lol

Thanks, I think I'll go that route if I do a SC conversion then, rather than using the MR2 turbo box. I had assumed that they tubby gearbox would be a straight swap as well, but it sounds not. I will want an LSD as well though, so I guess I'll need a tubby one for that. Is it OK to use the standard camry box ratios, or are they too tall for the job?

Had them chaged to suit 0-100 times and not top end, but from what i can remember 3 4 5 are similar to the jspec gearbox ratios. If you go with a tubby box you will need inner shafts from the tubbyjoined to outers from early st185 and also front huns etc.

BUT, the st202 box takes an lsd from the tubby no probs, would be nice to see how strong the box itself is :bookworm:

The late ST202s in JDM form (known as the SS3 model), had a 200 bhp beams engine, and an LSD gearbox. There are pretty rare, especially over here, but would make a good choice of gearbox for a turbo conversion.
