3rd Brake Light

Hi,

On my '87 MR2 there is an aftermarket 3rd brake light installed in a somewhat dodgy way (badly spliced connections and a loose wire dangling through the engine bay).

Not very clued up yet on the UK's MOT rules, I was wondering if on a car this age it is a legal requirement or not to have this installed?

If not I could simply take the thing off and tidy up the mess, as I don't like all that non-original stuff anyways.

Thanks, Yves.

yeah bin it

its a legal requirement after about '96 i think

or in an MOT all displayed lights have to operate on a vehicle

Yeah it was only after all manufacturers had to fit them to cars, which like Rob said was about 1996 time, so you should be fine Yves!

if it is faulty it will fail - if u disconnect it will pass - now thats what the sunday times driving section says after they contatcted VOSA for the legal requirment. however as said get it out anyway
