A Broken Lock - Warranty?

Hello

I need your advise. I just bought an 18 months old, 6000 miles Toyota Corolla T3. I noticed that the boot's lock is all deformed and has definitely been forced in the past. Should an approved used Toyota be perfect, or should I try to get the lock replaced ? The lock works, but it is all twisted.

Any help welcome

Best wishes

Franco

My partner has just bought a Corolla too! Good choice!

As for the lock I would definitely take it back to Toyota. Was the lock like that when you got it or is it something you've only just noticed?

An approved used Toyota is never going to be "perfect" - it is a used car after all, but all locks and stuff should be in good working order so I would take it back and ask them to fix it! Although in all honesty its something they should have noticed before they sold it.....

Thats what your warranty is for, after all!

I would get them to sort it, okay it works but if it's twisted there is a possibility it may fail in the future?

Sold as seem I am afraid.

the lock works fine as you said, if you bought the car like that, if anything the problem is cosmetic.

In my opinion thye are under no obligation what so ever to sort it.

Sorry.

:) Well, Toyota UK came through. After I contacted them, the dealer contacted me offering to replace the lock. I trust all will end well, and Toyota UK showed they can take care of their customers. BW Franco

Great news. I was going to say that I thought they should replace it.

There were a few minor problems on my Lex when I bought it and the dealer sorted them all out FOC without any pressure at all; a couple we warranty issues anyway - like the tarnished centre caps etc.

But I don't think a damaged lock is a warranty issue though; yes I thought they should replace it, but warranty itself won't cover that kind of problem. Not unless it's due to a fault with the manufacture of it.
