Cd Text On New Avensis

I've had my new T3-x now for almost 3 weeks. Does anyone know of any Cds what actually show the CD text. I have tried quite a few of the latest CDs but all of them come up as 'No Title'. I have even tried copying a few tracks onto a Cd-r and checking the box in Nero which says 'write CD text' - still nothing.

Any help appreciated

I've not yet found a bought CD that has text burned in. I burn a few CD's myself, using Nero 6, and I have to physically type in each track listing. It then does work in the car. It has a 12char length, so track titles longer than that are scrolled onto a second line which you access by holding down the TXT button. The unit doesn't recognise much in the way of punctuation, so dashes, apostrophes etc are all shown as an asterisk.

Just using the write CD box in Nero won't work, cos the text isn't there to start with, you have to manually type it in.

Hope this helps

Have to agree with Mkuko.

You have to enter the title tracks into Nero, unless you have ripped a CD using I-Tunes for example, when it will connect to the internet (gracenote I think) and attampt to download the track names automatically and rename the mp3 files accordingly.

BTW, I do have a Queen CD (A night at the Opera) which is a remastered version, purchased in Japan about 2 years ago which does have the Cd Text built in. It was mastered by Sony, but it's the only one out of my 400+ Cd Collection.

Cheers

Using a CD ripping programme does get you the track names automatically, provided you are connected to the net at the time. This will give you the full track titles, and a little judicious editing to shorten the names makes the final display in the car make more sense.

Why doesn't the CD player scroll the names, as per minidisc machines etc? Or have I missed a function?

One thing to watch - in the defaults of the CD ripper, set the encoder to .wav - most rippers default to MP3 or WMA or similar, and although this can be converted back to .wav on your final copy CD the sound quality will suffer. Staying in .wav thoughout gives you a one-to-one copy of your original CD.

I rip my audio CD's on to my hard drive and save them as mp3 files, I then use a program called "Tag & Rename" to put all the ID Tags to the albums. (Title, Artist, Track No, Time etc)

It does this automatacally by connecting to the freedb music database. There is usally no need to do any manual typing (You can edit info if you want)

Then I use Nero to burn mp3 files as an Audio CD.

Works 100% in my T4's player, by pressing the text button you can get Album Title, Track Title and Artist.

Thanks for all these replys guys.

I've updated my version of Nero from 5 to 6 and it works a treat. My text display doesnt show the artist, only the track and album titles. I am assuming this is normal

Well its the same as mine anyway, I just don't fill out artist bit when I burn CDs, cos I can usually remember who's playing, its just titles I forget :P

I just put on "Title" box the name of the artist and leave "Artist" text box empty. That way I see the artist in the car's player. Pitty is that 6CD-Changer I have (Toyota's original, 2005) has no text at all. Anyone knows is there some changer by Toyota comming out soon with CD-text? By the way mine is Avensis 1.8 VVTi 2005. Unfortunately, there is no adapter in the world to connect aftermarket changer to Avensis manufactered after 2nd half of 2004.
