Fiiiiiiiiiiinally me an my bro (who did most of the work) got round to spraying the ugly grey bumpers to match the red of the car. got pics as well (otherwise its a pointless thread), kinda like a step by step guide on how to do it! lol :P

After my thread last night, decided to cover the mouldings and leave them as they are for now.

Em, you know i'd post pics up! lol :P would be pretty pointless thread if i didnt!

For those that dont know, here's how my car looked before:

And here's the handy "how i did it" part:

1. Started off by sellotaping carefully around the mouldings, and covered the lights and surrounding areas in newspaper:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image006.jpg

2. Took a quick pic of how it looked before:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image011.jpg

3. Then applied a few coats of red primer, and left to dry for a few minutes:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image015.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image016.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image002.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image003.jpg

4. Then applied the actual red spray paint, and again left to dry for a few minutes:

(notice in image 21 i'm modelling the latest "in-thing" for the yaris, NEWSPAPER LIGHTS! :P

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image019.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image021.jpg

5. Repeated the same procedure for the other side, took off all the sellotape/newspapers and the job was done:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image020.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image018.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image014.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image022.jpg

Did also say before that i would put pics up of the Sony sound system i had so here 'tis!:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image012.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3eM/Image012.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/Az3e...ay/Image013.jpg

And there you have it! Think you'll agree it looks quite good considering it was done by us, rather than having to pay nearly £200 for a pro to do it!

*sorry for length of post :thumbsup: :hokus-pokus: :P

red is a tw@ of a colour when respraying because it can look like a good match, but when its under a sodium light at night, they can look mega different. you can sometimes spot damage repaired cars this way.

but all in all lookin sharweet!

Colour code your wing mirrors while you at it, I've just done mine.

You've inspired me to do my yaris grey bumpers now.

I'll need Gray Primer, I know this because I've sprayed my wing mirrors with White Primer,

In the noon sunlight they look light blue. lol

Front_Left_Sml.JPG

I'm planning my attack. *hmmm 3 for 2 offer*

The Halfords spray cans are wicked!, the cans that they put the mixed paint in to. they spray in a vertical line. instead of a round splodge.

NICE!!!

***Chrome Grille*** :drool::drool:

not so sure about the wing mirrors, im indifferent towards them. i would have thought Halfords did a darkish blue primer? you'd get a better finish on them. yeah the spray of the cans is excellent, not a lot of wastage at all. post some pics up of how she looks afterwards!

Nice job on the bumpers there! I'd watch that Vitz logo, if your passenger airbag deploys you'll have an eye out with that!

Was it easy Lenry? guessing you took them off to do them? Mine are electric and i don't want to bugger them up!

I was thinking about doing this myself! So glad i already have colour coded bumpers without bump guards in them!

Robs right Azeem - you need to take that Vitz logo off - you shouldnt have anything on or near your airbags - the passenger one goes off towards the windscreen, which will smash but it wont break under the force of the bag and should stay intact.... that Badge might end up smashing your windscreen letting shards of glass fly all over the place.....

Dont run the risk just cause it looks good buddy! Stick it elsewhere!

I've just had a thought, does your model of Yaris have a passenger Airbag Azeem? You might be ok if it hasn't!

I went SPARE at my mother for sticking a metal air freshner to mine, of all the stupid things to do!
