Heavy Oil Usage

Hi

I'm new to this, but can anyone help?

I've had my CTS from new (3 years now) and it drinks oil like no mans business.

I've done 40K and i've topped the oil up with around 5 litres between each service.

The Toyato dealers says theres nothing wrong, but this can't be healthy, can it?

Funnily enough mate, i'm enquiring the same thing about my 86 at the moment. I went to my usual guy and he told me that of all the Corollas he has serviced, near enough all of them turned up with very little oil on the stick. As far as he was concerned its quite normal.

My experiance has been that Japanese cars don't use any oil at all between services...sorry.

My Corolla was drinking over 3 litres per 1,000 miles. New piston rings have solved that problem. The last thousand miles didn't see the oil level on the stick move a millimeter. :D

I've had no problems with oil use on my CTS, haven't had to top it up between services.

Just make sure you keep the oil level up and get it changed at the correct intervals and it should be ok. It's a high revving engine so it's likely to have higher consumption than a regular engine

It is uncharacteristic of the 2zzge engine to use a lot of oil. Owners of Celicas, CTSs, Exiges/Elises etc. all seem to agree that the engine doesn't use much oil.

Sounds like you may have a problem, so best to take it to a dealer who will check it out properly.

Paul.
