Hi

This is only a minor problem but I always feel like I'm "on stage" when driving this car in town. Kids and petrolheads stop for a look and then when she's slow to start, everyone stares and some smartubik shouts "you've flooded it" so it's a bit embarrasing. My cool car suddenly turns very uncool. (She does always start though.)

I've had her for 15 years and she's always the same; starts quickly when cold but needs to turn over for a good 4 or 5 seconds when hot before she starts.

It's the 18R 2litre engine with single carb.

I've had other Toyotas that do this and I've heard it's something to do with fuel vaporisation but I dont know a cure. The carb has the plastic manifold spacer with heat shield and it runs perfectly, including the auto choke.

Anyone know a CURE?

their was an aisan carb on eBay recently , dunno if it would be any good to u

Had the same problem but cured, I removed & stripped/cleaned rebuilt & everything was fine.
