New Owner Still On 15's

Hi everyone, just bought a 98 gen 6 GT and this seems like a great forum. I have the standard 15" wheels on 205/55/15 tyres and I'm looking at getting 17's. from what I've read 215/40/17 should be a good tyre size and won't change the overall diameter too much.

was wondering if this will give much difference in the ride quality as its a reasonably bumpy ride already (in comparison to a honda civic)???

also, do you think I'll notice any difference in performance??i'd guess not with 170bhp....thanks

the 40 profile tires will give a slightly harsher ride than the 55 profile, i've got 2 sets of wheels one set are 17's with a 40 profile and the other are 16's with a 50 and you can really tell the differance just from the ride alone.

if your not changing the overall diameter too much then there shouldn't be any diferance in performance

you may notice a small drop in accelleration due to the larger wheel diameter.but nothing to worry about.

17's suit the gt well

The acceleration and top speed should be almost exactly the same, as the overall rolling circumference has only been altered by 8.5mm according to the calculator here. :)

You may find it accelerates slightly better, as aftermarket alloys will more than likely be lighter than the original ones, enabling a faster takeup. :D
