Want Cheaper Petrol Prices?

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it We are hitting 95p a

litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 per ltr.

Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day"

campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just

laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by

refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a

problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really

work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC

nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we

need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the

marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we

consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit

someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol!

And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest

oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any

petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their

prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact,

we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's

really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep

reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am

sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten

more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10

= 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation

of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three

million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million

people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed

it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send

this to 10 people.

That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each

of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all

300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you,

please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES

TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this

email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet

etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.

This has gone around every year since the petrol roadblocks...

and rumour has it - it was started by Shell's marketing dept ;)

I don't think that email is factually correct.

BP is part of BP Amoco

Esso is part of Exxon Mobil.

COrrect me if i'm wrong but I don't think they are 1 company.

Truth is its not the oil companies fault, its gordon brown and his 75% tax. that way petrol would only be 25p a litre

But hasnt oil rocketed up to over $60 a barrel now.....

Surely thats a factor also....

No, thats an EXCUSE imo,

Its all bull to make us believe this is why we are paying so much pertrol

Or everybody could just try walking/cycling/take the bus/etc. to work for 1 day a week. Although your few pence of petrol saving won't seem much, if the entire country does this, it will really hit ALL the petrol companies (and save the environment a bit!).

Not buying petrol on one day or going elsewhere still means the Govt. get's its fuel duty on your petrol and still means one of the oil comapnies get your cash as over a week/month you'll still use the same amount of fuel!

There are 2 dead cert ways for getting cheap petrol.

1. go out at night with a length of hosepipe and a petrol can.

2. Don't live in the UK.

( the second option incurrs more initial expense than is probably reasonable. The first option still requires some outlay..............Packet of Polo's to get rid of the aftertaste )

Don't bother!!!!!!!!

Its a wate of time!!! even in my JDM (use to 100 ron) import twin turbo, esoo super plus is fine, infact the car feels stronger!!!

Optimax has a ver short shelf life and within a week it will drop in octane rating!

You won't dent the Major Oil companies too much but instead the Government needs to be targetted - Theyare indebted to US, the VOTING PUBLIC, to help our existance and that is NOT the job of ESSO/BP - They don't give a damn whether one or two people can't afford their products..........

or just think back to the 2000 roadblocks.. and organise a simular event for a longer period of time to give gordon brown something to really think about.

only trouble is i think now they have a law in place says you can get lifted instantly under terrorism laws or something!!

Yeah - the petrol crisis would never be able to happen again - the police have new powers to stop any fuel protest....

We live in a country of free speech, but if we cant protest at high fuel prices, what can we do? Write to our MP..... I dont fink so! :ffs:

That's the point of an MP though - To represent the people in his/her area.

Hit them up with emails/letters etc and see if they offer a response

or, how many people do you think fill up with fuel everyday??

if everyone just fills up and doesnt pay in protest

theres no way the police could follow every single person, it would be complete chaos!! depends on honest people dropping their pride for just one day though

You obviously don't remember the thousands who wouldn't pay their Poll Tax. Basically they did make an effort to take everybody to court over non-payment. The courts would most likely charge everybody involved no matter how much of a backlog there was. Just think of the money they could get out of everybody in fines.

We used to live in a country of free speech, we certainly dont now

You watch, Blair will use his new anti terrorist laws to enforce so many restrictions upon us, the UK will be an awful place to live in in the not too distant future

I used to go to BP for petrol, now we both just go to Tesco!

I agree that petrol is getting to a crazy price, I just go chains like Tesco even tho some people think their petrol is of a poorer quality because I dont see the point of choosing to pay more if I dont have too.
