Mudflaps For Old 'un

I have a 1991 Corolla in excellent con, but somebody wrenched off the n/s mudflap. My dealer says they cant supply them anymore, and a hunt round the scrappys has proved fruitless, Does anyone know of anyone who makes copies? It doesnt matter if the Toyota logo is not on it, but it would be better if it was. Many thanks.

This attitude is becoming a disgrace with some Toyota Dealers spares/parts department.

If you can provide your chassis number to the parts person then the spares will still be available for any Toyota regardless of age.

Unfortunately it all depends how bothered or 'devoted' the spares chap is!

Believe it or not Toyota have vertually evert part available for every post war car they have ever made (AT A PRICE!) ...in Japan.

The problem is that Toyota UK / Europe can't be bothered with keeping spares for older vehicles (understandable in a way...e.g. how many 1950's Toyota 'Publica's' or 1960's Coronas are on the roads in northern Europe these days?).

Also some Toyota Dealers seem to have the mentality that if it's over 12 years old then they can't get spares at all!

In the Toyota Enthusiasts Club we discovered there is a 'follow through system' with Toyota that enables a part search to go right back to Toyota Japan if necessary (This was done when window surrounds were needed with a 1978 Celica and some front suspension components for a 1967 Corona), but as stated earlier you may end up paying a high price in this situation plus the wait for the spares from Japan my take weeks (or months!)!

Going back to your 1991 Corolla if your dealer said this part is not available, then he is talking rubbish with regard to a car this young.

Appologies for my little rant but I think it is a shame when there is a good spares availability and local dealers can't be bothered to put it into action.

It makes me wounder if this is why a lot of wounderful older Toyotas don't excist today (as well as rust  ), people just get sick of trying to get spares for 'em.

Many thanks for that, it has given me the impetus to try again with the dealer, given that i have the car serviced regularly there. I shall post my results!

Thanks again

Just keep trying scrapyards they are rare though. I didask a deler about a year ago for a price on the mudflap got told something like £55 + vat. Not what you would think it would cost for a bit of rubber!
