Hello everyone.

I currently have a Celica GT which is in great condition and is T reg 1999. Im now considering taking parts off my GT (wheels, sound system etc...) and putting them on a GT4. The only worry i have is that im going to sell my car to buy an older one. Does anyone know how reliable the GT4's are? Prob be a 1996 one. Will i be spending all my money maintaining it?

Also how much do you think my car is worth if i get it back to standard? Its a 1999 Black FSH 59k miles?

Here are some pics: http://www.trustphotosite.com/adamglenis/Celica_GT/

Thanks everyone

Adam

very , very reliable .the only thing you may have to spend money on is the superstrut suspension set up .thats if ur looking at a gen 6 gt4.oil and filter change at every 3k miles , fully synthetic if you like £ 40 ish .the gt4 is a monster compared to the st202 when the turbo kicks in , its awesome , 0-60 is gutwrenching at first , 6 months later you want more.i have owned both and own a gt4 now , and the st202 is a yaris in comparison to the st205 - absolutely marvellous machine.mine is a 1994 from japan and its immaculate in every area , its cost me £ 400 in parts in 10 months for superstrut .which when replaced is good for 60 to 70 k .downside to jap ones is optimax fuel . downside to uk ones is 10 years in uk wet weather.once you own a gt4 you will need a supra , skyline or sti scoobie to even feel content.

Scumbaru ? Ya having a laugh ? Soop/Line? Too lardy .. you'll miss the point and squirt.

Was in the same situation commig from an MR2 .. both small cars with adiquate power .. you'll need to do a LOT to get a bigger car to feel like an ST205 ..

as mr.forbes says look on the gt4 owners club site . lots for sale on there, a few highly modded ones too , but most all very well looked after.failing that try the auto trader , but beware of jumping in feet first and buy a stinger , i looked for a bog standard model which was unmollested by speak freaks .by adding a boost controller yourself and upping the boost you are looking at 300+ bhp , thing to listen for are clunking from the rear = rear diff mount is shot , knocking from pull away from the front and going over small bumps at 10 mph = usually superstrut suspension is shot , normally drivers side goes first.if you can get hold of an import you will have alot less to worry about as most are immaculate as mine was .there are some good uk models about though :thumbsup:

Celicaclub aint the best place to sell the GT.

Try autotrader!

Why not get a supra instead of a GT4? ~Ive been told even the NASP ones are quick with 230ishBHP but are very light. Obvioulsy the 320ish BHP twin turbos are better ;)

Coocki... You ever tried gettin 230 BHP rear wheel drive round a corner in the wet???? It`s erm.. entertaining to say the least. GT-4 maximum stiction... :P

Got my heart set on a GT4 now! Really want a turbo car so if i went for the supra turbo i think the insurance would be too much for me being 21 with only 1yr NCB.

My GT is for sale now on ebay:

I dont really expect it to sell on eBay so i will put it in the autotrader soon. As soon as it sells i will be out shopping for a GT4. Thanks for the advice GT4booster  i will keep an eye out for them faults.
