Spedometer Cable

Hello. The Supra (mk III) is going in for its MOT first thing in the morning. Just got the insurance so took it out for a spin and speedometer didn't work  bugger. Just taken dash apart (for the umpteenth time) and low and behold the plastic end of the cable had snapped off. Hopefully they wont notice it at local MOT test centre as they wont drive around in it. However the Haynes manual I have for it (#92025 1979-1992) doesn't even mention the speedo cable never mind how to fit it. Neither does it give a wiring diragram or mention on the electric wing mirrors (these have not worked since I got it and would be nice to have them working) not even where the fuse for it is . Iwould appreciate any help in either or both of these matters. I will also let you know if the supey passed or not. Regards Mik.

The MOT tester may well notice when he checks the brakes.

You've now found out how good the Haynes manuals are for these cars. If you are going to be doing a lot of work on your car then get hold of the Toyota manuals as they are very good, but not cheap.

In all honesty you should be able to figure out how to replace your speedo cable, it's not that hard. Obtain a replacement and then follow it back to the gearbox to remove and replace.
