The Light Behind The "radio Screen"

Hi All,

This morning I had a bit of a stupid moment when resetting the Average speed & Consumption after filling up (with a fiver lol - lack of cash in purse and no card on me!) and I pressed the "display" button on the left of screen instead of the "trip" button on the right and held it, it then turned off the blue light which illuminates the screen!

I never knew you could turn it off like that, did anyone else know of it? To turn it back on you press and hold it and then it comes on again.

And yes I did press the right button to reset average speed and consumption - she was on 46.8 mpg average!

Turns it off completely?

Never noticed or done that before!!  :D

Yeah it goes off completely so it looks like it does when there is no key in the ignition, well obviously apart from the writing that shows up i.e radio station or whatever.

It was just something that I discovered by chance and I never had heard of it before.

already knew that...got told by salesman when collected the car....also u can turn the radio/cd player off & on by holding the "MODE" button on the steering wheel control.......(i think the button is called MODE.). You can also change the radion stations by holding the up or down arrow on the steering controls(the pre-set stations as well as searching through them...if u know what i mean  )

I knew that already actually - figured it out all on my own actually with no help from anyone.

It's in the hand book...

I didnt know it was, I had never seen it as it isnt something I'd obviously pay attention too. Just thought I'd share it here so other people who also didnt know it could try it out. Like Chris said it's a handy thing at night as it distracts him.

It's in the hand book...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, useful thing that book

Yes very useful... and on page 104 second paragraph it tells us why the volume knob goes in and out!

Ok fine so it's in the handbook, you know that - I didn't.

I found out something new about a Yaris which I hadnt even heard about before on these forums or from any other source so I shared it with fellow members. This is a forum - a place to help each other out and share information which is what I did.
