Cd Changer Controls

Hi Guys, just a quickie.

I have a 2001 Avensis CDX with CD changer and steering wheel controls.

Is it possible to 'fast forward' through a track on a CD rather than just skip between tracks? It only ever seesm to skip.

Also (will post pic) there looks like there is some kind of IR receiver at the bottom right of the head unit, near the tape deck. Does anyone know what this is for?

I have 2005 1.8VVTi, and no, there is no way to do FFW or REW by the steering wheel controls, only on deck itself

On my dads 1.8 vvt-i Gs you cannot scan through a track on a cd via the steering wheel controls either but me dad hardly uses the wheel mounted controls has he finds the radio/cd player placed in the right postion and finds it easier to use the unit to skip through tracks and scan through tracks.
