:help: I am after a new back box since the original one has developed a crack in after (48,000). I am after a sports exhaust but unsure for which one will fit since I will have to use a universal one.

Got any ideas?

Hate to pay the £110 for a standard Toyota one!

Currently looking at a Magtec Universal oval

Yes, I have spelt exhaust wrong :D

get a proper muffler, none of that ricey " straight through jap style " crap, cause they sound crap. just make sure it has the same inlet / outlet widths of the main exhaust. company wise, i dont know of any here...

get a bosal or timax one. Its not really cost effective to get the magnex one, because the only HP increase you get will be in your head!

www.bosal.com

and find the part number. alternately thick fit may be able to sort you out.

yeah, somehow a lot of people (i.e. chavs, boyracers and the like...) seem to think that really loud !Removed! like noise = more power. could even go for remus but they're expensive

:D I am only after a back box by the way

figured. i would think it should be easy enough, at the minimum some welding will be required, but i think the bosal muffler is available for the starlet so should be easy to install

Posted

no welding, needed you just unclip the old one and install the new one.

for which one?

have you ever fitted an exhaust before? they are suspended on rubber hangers and have clips/clamps where the sections join up. so just buy the back box.

you might wanna get a haynes manual

Ive looked at a few but have problems with the back section from the back pipe - Trying to get a good fit with out to much messing is what I am looking for. So; if a go for a decent sports exhaust with universal fittings I should be ok

powerflow exhaust.

you'd be better saving up to be honest. Unless you get a good one a backbox sounds SH1TE! with the tiny bore on the rest of the exhaust. I've got a cat back stainless system and it sounds really good compared to another local starlet which sounds like your average 1.1 paxo

only chance you got is custom for the system, but for the love of jeebus don't go for any of those chavvy custom companies like ascar or exhausts uk etc... try find a place around you that has a proper background in the subject

i'd say go to powerflow exhausts too matey.

they'll make you what you want, how you want it.

and its all stainless steel.

Rich.

How much of the green stuff will it cost?

Posted

just a back box will cost you £180

a cat back system will be somewhere around £300

the stainless has a lifetime guarantee aswell. plus any problems with the system in any way, take it back to them an they'll fix it free of charge.

Sound. Looks like a trip down to demon tweeks!

Powerflow all the way. Well worth the money. GTF with your crappy "jap cans" bolted onto the standard pea size bore.

I have a powerflow and it also sounds better than any of those chavvy corsa/saxo and fiestas.
