Wife has a brand new Rav 4 Auto, 4 weeks old. She returned to the car after shopping. After getting in she was unable to start it. There were no lights, no noises, nothing! Arrived on scene and tried to start it but nothing! Tried again and evervthing works! Just before the engine fired there were a series of bleeps. However the radio had lost all the stations and the clock needed resetting as well which seems to indicate to my laymans brain as an interruption to the power supply for some reason, any ideas? Am surprised as I 've owned a Landcruiser for 5 years with no trouble!

Obviously you had a disconnect of primary power. Return to dealer and do not accept "We caould not duplicate the problem" as an answer. There is probably a fault in a primary connection to the Battery or starter. Possibly a defective fuse block.

The radio memory is connected to a constant 12 volts from the system, through the wiring harness in the dash. So either the fuse block failed for whatever reason (bad connector crimpped to wire, or primary wire at battery)

57 Borqward,

Thanks for the reply. Cars going into dealer tomorrow, however wanted some idea of the fault cos I didn't want to get fobbed off. If they find the fault I will post it! CHEERS!
