I the Hiace meets topic Chris asked for some links and info for the Super Customs. Sorry its been a while coming but here goes. I'll post a few now and add more when I get chance.

Now show season is over pretty much, I should be able to be a help more often.

A Small Introduction to Vanning-Zoku

Stuff you might not know, the Hi-ace 100 and 200 or Hi-Acky has huge following in Japan. The customising of them has drawn heavily from the Drifting and customising influences over the last 3 decades. Bodykits are mild tuning style to the heavily Manga and Anime influenced winged wonders. Those that ridicule them just don't understand what they are al about but the best thing is good or bad it provokes a reaction and usually a smile.

Just as with the closely related Hashiriya there is a strong sence of community this has spawned many Vanning tuning/styling shops and teams. or those not so into the styling there is just as big a community of mildly modified and stock but well spoilt Hi-Ace models from campers to cruisers.

A majorly useful tool for any conversing with the clubs and companies out in Japan is Babelfish Text Translator

I us this to talk to people on many Japanese site and especially Hi-ace Fun Club which is a huge club with many chapters around Japan. The members on the forum are very friendly and helpful.

Drive by...just to say thanks...not been on the net much recently hence late reply.

The 'interesting article' was a really good insight.

2 of the links wouldn't work for me but I'll try them again when time. Really like the custom interiors...would like to have a go myself some day.

Having probs translating the e-nagura (fun club) site...so I'll have to keep trying with that one
