Fuel Light

was driving along on fumes thinking 'light is taking its time coming on?'

then within 5 yards of going to juice up it came on bright and clear

and now wont got off! and its doing my nut! any ideas? :help:

Sounds like the sensor is either sticking or shorting somehow. I thought the light would be directly linked to the filler sensor? :wacko:

yeah me two, which is kinda confusing me, cant be two different things surely?

I owuld have siad that they cant be two sensors ?

But if the needle is up ? then hwo can the light be on.

If you look at the light when you are low, it kinda fades off to on, and on to off, so it must be some kinda senor to do with the needle !?

check this out....

car was almost on gas again and went to fill it up, needle was pointing below the 'empty' mark :P

and as i pulled within 100yards the light went 'brighter'??

filled up and its gone back off!

will wait and see what happens!

im assuming some sort of funny float switch controls it?

yeah, this seems to be a commen problem on mk2's, I have the same problem, light sometimes goes off, but more often than not....It just stays on brighter than ever......staring at me!
