Hi there

Can anyone please help me!!

I own a 2.8 diesel 4x4 automatic van the engine code is 3L.

I took the diesel pump out of my van to have it serviced but when i put it back the gears dont change smoothly like before, i have to take my foot off the accelerator and then only will it change, i battle to do 90km/h the van just seems to be stuck in 3rd gear and doesnt change to a higher gear.

Please can anyone help!!

Thanks

Hi Elmixador. The pump service shouldnt have affected the transmission.

The only thing I can think of is your throttle linkages need some adjustment.

Or possibly there are some sensors attached to the pump that tell the automatic when to change.

They are the only links between transmision and fuel pump.

Yeah, as above

Not sure about this on all toyotas, but have a look at the fuel pump. You will see your accellerator linkage presumably. Also there is another sort of accelerator linkage that connects to the gear box. Make sure this linkage is adjusted correctly. This is the kick down cable, and makes a big difference as to how smoothly the car changes gear, and when.

Your car may not have one however, but it's worth a look.
