Fuel

Hi,

I new and still learning the ropes,

this may be a silly question, but i was wondering what fuel is best to use on my 140 Celica (Gen7 i think? - it's a 2001 model).

Currently I'm using Shells Optimax, but I'm not sure if that is the best fuel to use in terms of keeping the the engine healthy

Can any give a better insight into what i should be using

Tesco 99 RON. It's on trial in the SE, there is probably some near you. Otherwise just use normal unleaded.

My Gen 7 liked Optimax. Always got a few more mpg and went well on it.

Optimax is regarded by many as the best fule you can get in this country but as with everything it really is a matter of opinion.

I use OPTIMAX in my 190 because I like to believe the fuel will do my engine more good than regular fuels in terms of keeping it clean (as clean as you can achieve by putting in combustible liquid)............

I have tried a few more fuels and feel Optimax gives me slightly more responsiveness than regular octane stuff but what the heck do I really know.

If you like it and can justify the extra price over regular fuel then carry on with it.

Thanks, so far I've been pretty happy with the optimax, and I think i'll probably stick with as is seems to be the general consensus of everyone i've spoken to

i use any 97 ron i can get my hands on. However my MPG is dropping rapidly. A few months ago i got 390 miles on a full tank. Now i get 320, very strange....

How many MPG does everyone to a full tank (55 ltrs), cause i get around 250 to 300 depending on how i drive, is that normal?

300 - 350 ish (I thought the Gen 7's had 49 Litre tanks also)

I was reading the owners manual (something I would normally never do!) and it said it had a 55 litre tank, but the maximum i managed to fill from, what i though was empty, a max of 46 litres, and just to let every one in the north west london area know or whoever is local the watford Shell is doing optimax for 97.9 p/ltr or at least was last night, but had to queue for a 30 mins
