Central Locking Problem

My corolla 3 door vvti gs is suppose to have central locking.

When the car is locked and i go to open it by putting the key in the door and turning it only the driver's door opens (the passenger door remains locked) so i have to hit the central locking switch on the inside of the drivers door to open the passenger door.

But when i go to lock the car by putting the key in the door both doors lock.

A minor problem but annoying none the less.

Any help is appreciated.

My corolla is the same be it 5 door but is rare i use the key cos the cars got remote central locking. If i unlock the car only the drivers door does unlock but unlock the passenger doors via the switch on the drivers pannel then lock the drivers door with the key all doors lock. My dads avensis is the same has well as his previous one to that was so IMO its not a fault.
