serious problem trying to drive. can just about pull away before car starts bucking. managed to get home by keeping revs below 2000 in all gears. little orange light on right hand side could possibly resemble engine comes on whilst lurching down the road. it does have a problem with alternator as well. sorry to be so vague but any suggestions would be appreciated. gt4 st185 1992 import.

Sounds like the ecu has gone into safe mode, the light resembling an engine is the engine warning light which means the ecu has detected a problem with something.

Then click on diagnosis system from menu on the left. Use a paperclip or bit of wire to join the diagnosis pins.
