I have just bought a Celica GT import, its on a L plate so im thinking around 1994 possibly???

on the dash i have a amber light that looks like a small symbol of the car, and at the rear of the symbol/car it has what look like small lines coming from its rear end.

I think it could be a light out, but ive checked and all the lights are fine, can anyone help.

cheers!

IIRC it means that your fog lights switched on, you usually get this with imports as they need a fog light wired in. take it it only comes on when your lights are on?

It's the broken wire warning light that tells you if your rear bulbs are blown. There's been a few posts about this and they always seem to stay on even if the lights are fine. Probably something to do with the wiring for the fog lights. My 1994 import had the same problem, took it back to where I bought it and they told me it was fixed but I think they just disconnected it as it doesn't even come on with the ignition. No great loss and it's better than it being on all the time which is ANNOYING!

Nice car, looks very tidy

You say your celica is an import, has it got a rear fog light bolted to the back bumper, or have they been incorporated into the rear light unit ?.

the rear fog is built into the light, i have a button the dash that looks like its just been stuck on, it looks kinda like a neon on off switch, but it turns the rear fog on. thats probably the cause!

I don't have the solution, but that is the cause...the import gen 6 celica's have 5 brake light bulbs, one up on the boot lid , and 4 in the light units, its common practice to convert the inner brake lights to UK spec fog lights, down side of this is the car now thinks 2 of the brake lights are not working.

I'll have a chat with the Celica-Club gen 6 boy ,and see if we can find a quick fix :)

ok,this is claimed to work....

"You don't need to add any resistors to the wiring, all you have to do is join the cut wires to the live wires on the other brake light at each side and this should stop the warning light coming on."

Hope that helps
