I Have Found The Dullest Job In Cardom

Well, as the title says, I have found the dullest job in cardom - today I clay'd the Yaris with the Meguiars "Quick" clay...

It takes what feels like an age (hence the inverted commas) but the difference is amazing - you only had to run your hand from the "before" to the "after" to feel the difference and the amount of crud that came off the paintwork was amazing - especially at the car doesn't really spend any of its time in towns and cities. Its something I'll probably only do 2 or 3 times a year, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

A liberal smearing of Tech-wax straight afterwards made it even shinier and should set her up for the onset of winter.

The only downside is that now the all of the bug remnants are gone you can see the liberal peppering of stone chips across the bonnet and bumper

Here's a pic (note the re-attached 'trims - the "Frankfurt look" was starting to annoy me)

Cheers,

Alan

Cheers!

Chris (Canavan), it was the amount of brown muck that came off the roof that amazed me - it was like sandpaper!

Here's another pic...

Looking good Alan!

When are you coming to do mine? ;)

hahahahaha...

Price would have to be right! Its just too boring, although for £50 I would wash, clay and wax it for you (including materials) :P

Its sunny right now...

Sadly, as I've spent so much time on my cars lately, today is being spent sprucing up the flat - in between being distracted by t'internet :(

You and I are scarily alike, Alan!

My flat is still suffering from the need for a bit more tidying. I began yesterday then the Internet took over, then my girlfriend arrived to drag me to the pub. Naturally, I protested but she insisted!

Stop it! You're scaring me!

Mine (and the Yaris) have been somewhat neglected recently as I've been putting loads of time into Limace the 2CV

Alan take the wheel trims off boy!  Why oh why did you put them back on? :lol:

Ummm - the more I looked at it the more it looked like bits had been stolen. It just looked a bit "I can't afford alloys, so I took the 'trims off" It stayed that way for a week though, so I gave it a fair trial! :P

So how long did it take you then Alan?

After seeing the amount of crud and tree sap on mine, I need to give it a good cleaning!

Where's the best place to get it from as well (I.e. for Gold discount :D)?

Cheers.

Also spotted it on the Envy website, so think instead of faffing around with vouchers and Halfrauds, I'll do some online shopping with Envy! :D

Looks like a fantastic weekend planned ahead then - cleaning car and eating cake on Sunday for my nephew's birthday (I'm trying to teach him to say "Toyota," "Yaris," "Zanipolo," and "Honda's are for poofs!" :D).

Alan, you can do my car at the meet!

NO!

It took me about 3.5 to 4 hours all in from filling the first bucket to trying to get the wee bits of polishing cloth off the door rubbers. You need a good day for it though as you have to wax it straight after the claying. It will probably take you less time as I don't have a hose so have to keep padding back and forth to get buckets of water from the flat (thankfully ground floor!).

The car wasn't too bad to start with (no mud or crud up the doors) so I just washed it as normal with Autoglym car shampoo, clay'd it to heck and then did a pass of Tech-Wax.
