the yellow remote line keeps a current flowing to your headunit to keep all the radio stations tuned in and other memories, like volume and bass.

If you use the toyota adaptor it will already be on there.

wait a min..

let me get it straight..

im not using any kind of speical adapter..

i just plug the original one out, and doing some wire cutting..

the red one.. that goes in the original HU.. is an "ignition plus"?

meaning, it will only feed + when the ignition is on "ac" or up?

If there is already a remote "yellow" as you say you should just be able to plug this straight into the remote on the amp!

Does this make any sense?

CB

It would be easier with the adapter, less wire cutting.

The red wire is positive+, which comes on when the ignition is on. This is the main power.

Black is negative-

Yellow is constant 12v feed for the headunit memory.

Blue is Remote lead to power up an amp ect. when the headunit comes on.

The rest are speaker wires.

hey armored.. thnx

so.. the red wire that goes into the original headunit is from the ignition JA? lol

and blue goes to the amp right? i mean from the HU to the amp... cause right now... its on all the time... (no "remote" on original so that idiot who installed the amp just connected it to the red +)

yes without the blue remote wire the amp doesn't know when the headunit goes on or off, so it doesn't know when to switch itself off.

so..one last time...

i disconnect the old unit... cut (or ammend new wires to the old)

red (from car) goes to the + in the HU .. this is a switched + right? meaning only when the ignition is on ... itll be juiced

black (from car) well hmph.. to -

yellow (from hu) goes to yellow in car? is there one? if not.. connect it to a constant 12v+ right?

and blue from HU to remote connector on my big fat amp..

did i get it straight?
