Cathodes

Yes, I know this has been covered before, but I really don't know much about car electronics.

So my question is, how do I install my cathodes into the footwell? I ahve a rocker switch that i want to use, so that i can switch them on and off as i like. Is it best just to connect them to the Battery directly or possibly to something else inside the car? Also, what wire would you need to connect for power?

Thanks,

Ross

not 100% but id say its simular, i snipped the red and black wire and wired into into a multi switch, which was then wired into the Battery, if u just wanted to use that switch it would be a case of red and black, would need extending so two connectors and wire, and basically wire it straight up to the Battery or the cig lighter,

double check this tho, speak with griff as he has done this already!!

First I wired mine into the cig lighter as I dont have an amp in the back, so I really didn't want to connect any wires to the Battery and run it into the car.

The way in which I wired mine which is exactly the same kit as yours was to cut of the pc connector right at the end to give you the most amount of wire length possible, and remove that cable tie too.

So now you should have a yellow and black wire . The black wire is the earth wire and bypasses the switch and goes straight into the box (so that is simple enough)

The yellow wire is the positive wire and goes to the switch, on the output of the switch the colour has changed from yellow to red and this is still the positive wire!

And thats about it!

use the acc circuit, ie !Removed! lighter or stereo switched live so it comes on with ignition and switch so you can turn them off in the day,

Well I would imagine you want to be able to turn them on without the key in the ignition for that "trick" look

Cos I had two amps under my chairs I had power direct from the batter coming into the car. (To do this cut a nipple off the grommit and take the wire behind the glove box) I had a power spiltter under the passengers seat (power for each sub) and so had a spare terminal for cathodes/leds. From here I ran a wire to my dash mounted switch I installed on the spare blank. I currently have cathods in all of the footwells, boot, cubby holes and LED's in all 4 air vents. Does look really good at night

Which is the positive on the cig lighter? Do I have to splice the wire from the cig lighter? As i still want to keep the orginal adaptor because i'm putting in another cig lighter in the facia soon

Yep.....probably best to splice the cable!

Can't remember the colour but I remember that the bit at the end of the lighter is the positive and the outer-side is negative.

what i did was get a direct feed from the Battery and put a switch in the circuit, theres a hole in the passenger footwell so no need to ruin any grommits..

took them out now though lol so my orange garden cable has dissapeared from the engine bay :P
