Hi,

I get about 425 miles out of my diesel Yaris Verso and the max MPG I have had is 60, not bad for being a larger lady.

ive seen 370 out of mine and that 1 once on a trip up to blackpool!! 6 hours or consistant speed, so yes it can be done, but for town driving ur having a laugh

my mpg varies from 30-40

I've just got back for Blackpool 200 miles each way average 65Mph there, 80 Mph on the way home.

I did no driving at all in Blackpool, so 400 miles on one tank that cost me £30.00.

I was using the High Octane fuel in a Yaris S 1L

I usualy only get about 300 miles out of it driving in and around the city.

Thanks to Kev Mc, alanbradley and selfbuild for the welcome.

Fair comment from all of you I think.

This will be the last I'll say on fuel economy :) so you can relax now.

I promised that I would come back and update you on my final stats for my last tankful:

735.3 miles

40.01 litres

83.6 mpg

:D

I noticed that the fuel gauge seems to work a bit different to most I've experienced before. Normally, the first half tank goes down slowly - according to the gauge - then then the rest gushes away within half the distance or so.

On the Yaris, it's pretty level, but each notch down on the indicator seem to represent more litre-age than the previous one. Disconcerting, but useful.

Cheers folks,

joel

Yeah, sorry about that, it didn't seem bad until I read it again the next day, don't let it put you off the site or anything, we're all nice people here. As I've said, I couldn't drive like that but you can't argue with those results, I looked at mine the other day & that was 41.something mpg I think, that hadn't been reset since my Battery went at the bodyshop a few months ago so that's a fair average I think.

Thats why I reset Trip A on the Odometer and use that to judge when I need petrol..I know that I can get at least 350 out of the Blue everytime, have gone up to 370 before getting too nervy and filling up too. Of course I dont disregard the Fuel Gauge but as it can give a bit of an inaccurate guide going on the odometer is a big help.

Mate - your feedback was valid. Sign of a healthy forum. In any case, it's better than silence and tumbleweed. :) Thanks though...

One oddity with Diesels: considering they're the engine of choice for fuel economy anoraks, why don't they have the MPG built in to the drive computer?

According to the garage, the diesel engine "doesn't have the bits" for it.

Mmmm.

Anyone here actually *know* why?

Cheers,

joel
