Couple Of Glitches (advice Rqd)

Recommended Posts

Hi, a couple of problems require some help:

Car is a '92 J Plate G-Ltd T Bar (import)

1) The speedo does not read accurately - it reads over on initial start up, but gets progressively lower, so, at the end of a 2 hours journey for example it reads at 40mph when travelling at 70mph! This is v.illegal so I need help to get it fixed. Could it be a sensor, or something in the importing re-calibration to miles process?

2) What are the correct tyre pressures (front and back) for the standard MR2 with the flat 5 spoke 15" Rims and tyres?

3) On turning there is a intermittent slight grinding/rubbing/vibration appearing to come out of the fronts somewhere - this is not present in a straight line, but on a good bend at speeds of 30mph+ there is a regular grinding/vibration as in rub___rub___rub

get the idea?!

Any help greatly appreciated -these things are really niggly and starting to annoy me! I love the car, and want to get it tip top.

2) depends on your driving style but 32 front 34 rear should be fine....

3) Check your splash guards for wear and tear, happened to me recently.....

1) Is it a cable driven or electronic, I have a feeling you've got a revision 2 (1992 suggests this) - if the allowys are the 15" five spoke that will confirm it, making the speedo electronic. Best thing you can do is to replace it with a UK speedo, conversion kits aren't always 100% reliable, though you may lose the speed ristrictor (if fitted). If it is cable driven, I would replace the cable :)
