Hello everyone i am new here, three weeks ago i purchased myself a 1996 Toyota Paseo 1.5Si for the princely sum of £1,000 with 43K on the clock, i have recently had it service and the mechanic equired if its had a cambelt change or not i replied no as the full service history indicates not. Does anybody know when the change interval for the Paseo is wether it be a certain milage or age.

if its a 96 and never been done, i would do it quick, its every 3years or 60k!!

Yeah, do it now if never been done. The belt is quite pricey as its unique to the car, around £45 from Toyota  and been told the only pattern ones are blueprinted ones anyway so wont be a lot cheaper. But, its a fairly simple job on the Paseo. Great price BTW!

I agree, get it done but you should only pay about £20 tops for a Blueprint one.

is the paseo not the 4efe/5efe? if it is, then belt costs £16 and thats for a gates belt

I have just got a quote to replace a cambelt from Toyota and the say they can change it for me for £182.99  they can also give me a discount which will bring it down to £173.85(whoopie doo)!. They sa it takes about 1hr 45mins to do. Are they KIDDING me or is this price normal?

Get a belt from a motor factor and take it to an independent garage , it'll work out cheaper that way. hth
