Ignition Key Battery

My key Battery seems to getting low. Can I just buy a bettery and change it or do I have to buy a new unit from a dealer? I'm worried about loosing the key code when I take the old Battery out.

They take the small CR watch batterys.I have to change um day-in day-out and ive never lost a code when doing so,but your right in sayin' if u dont do it quick enough u would lose the code. as long as u take the Battery out once u have a Battery ure be fine..
