Wiper Arms And Blades

Okay the time has come to replace not only my Wiper Blades but also the wiper arms as well as they are looking a bit tatty.

Would anyone recommend Bosch? Or would you go to Toyota and get the official ones that have the little 'spoiler' thingy on them?

Also is there anywhere online that you can select your type of car etc and order them?

I've just fitted new Bosch blades on my MR2. They're a very good make. If you need the harness then you can probably pick up a pair of Bosch for under a tenner. Got mine on eBay - I can find the sellers name for you if it would help; He sells lots of blades and it was a good deal I think.

Bosch blades for the MR2 should be one spoiler blade, and one normal one. You don't need a spoiler on the blade that's hinged from the centre of the car (passenger side probably).

However, if you just need to replace the rubber blade then you can get it from Mr T. But it will probably cost you as much or more for two of those from Mr T as a new set of Bosch blades including the harnesses.

BTW - I think standard blade on MR2 passenger side is a curved blade. If you get 3rd party replacements e.g. Bosch then they'll probably be straight ones. But that doesn't seem to cause any problems.

The arms are much more specialist. Need to get from Mr T I would think. Unless they're completely shot I'd look at whether you can refurbish them? I'd guess they'll cost about £20 each in which case it's a lot of money for something that probably won't improve their performance.

Hmmm thanks for all the info, yeah if you have the link to the seller Id appreciate it. As for the arms you have a good point, Im going to have another look at them tomorrow and see if they need to be done or not. It may be good enough just changing the blades and the harness (which I know are flaking and rusting).

These are the ones I bought. Though they are proper metal blades, not the plastic type shown in the picture.

Seller (gorgonator) doesn't seem to have any for sale on eBay at present, but I've mailed him to ask if he has any more.

There are other sellers on eBay who have them listed at about £8 plust postage, though not possible to see from the pics whether the 20" blade (drivers side) is a spoiler blade or not.
