Congratulations on the purchase. Sounds great. Look forward to Pics.

Regarding issues, I had some problems with the high lift cams on my 190; I think you probably have the 140 so that's not an issue for you. MR T sorted the problems for me anyway, though took me a few goes before I found a dealer that would agree that there was a problem at all.

The alloys were the usual rubbish - had two sets replaced under warranty. Though I just expect that from Toyota / Lexus; I have a 2 year old IS200 now and its wheels are no better.

Apart from that I have no complaints at all; it was a fantastic car, and I'd definintely recommend them. For Price / Handling / Performance / Practicality there's not much to touch them.

Enjoy.

Tony

Only real problems with the G7 VVTI are the wheels (as mentioned) and the Boot Struts.

The 5 Spoke wheels bubble up, and corrode. The 6 Spoke Fondamental, and the Many Spoke T-Sport wheels all seem to be fine from what I have heard and experienced... If you have the 5-Spoke ones and they go wrong you're best off replacing with a non-toyota set.

And the boot struts, if you have a spoiler (which I think you have), the boot struts aren't always strong enough to lift and keep up the boot and they tend to fail over time (and it hurts being smacked on your head with your boot!! Trust me...). Only thing you can do is have new ones fitted at £60 a side from Mr T.

Other than that, as long as the car's been looked after it should serve you very well indeed!

Welcome to the club, and like the man says, get some pics up!

hi you seem to know quite a bit about the gen 7 celica gt. I am looking to get one from between 1994 to 1996,wonder if you can help me out with a few things...

Firstly how quick are they. Could they dispose of a saxo vts down the quater mile...

ive just found a site which has loads of standard quater mile times and its got the 1994 celica gt down as a 15.6 sec and the saxo vts as 16.1, i know the saxo time is roughly correct not sure about the celica gt as i dont now anyone thats raced one.....

Whats the best year to go for on the gen 7...Do you know if one year it was quicker or had more ebhp or extras and is there any particular faults they had to look out for...

What are the engines like, are they anything like the Honda with their V-tecs, does it have any type of band if you know what i mean like where some cars hit around4/5,000 and then they really pull to the end of the gear?...What do they red line at..

Cheers

Sorry but Gen 7 wasn't produced between 94 and 96. Do you really want info on Gen 7 Celicas, or info on the Celica produced 94 to 96 which would be Gen 6 I believe.
