Hey Guys!

Looking at maybe getting a Gen 6 GT and was wondering what MPGs you guys are getting?

I have searched on this and found alot saying 80 on £20 etc but I was wondering if you could all post in MPG so I know where I am!

Many thanks!

a steady 56 mph gives good returns as with all motors , rag it and you pay the price.from a tenners worth i used to get near 80 to 100 miles , that was when fuel was 82p ish a litre.

i think 80 from £20 has a problem , i can get more than that from my gt4 , a gt ought to bring at least into the 100's from £20

My mate gets about 35mpg outta his GT when he drives nice.

I get about 30mpg outta my ST, but I can't drive as nice as him.

I think the official figures were 31mpg for the gt and 36 for the st

Don't know how accurate they are though

Don't know my MPG, but my '97 ST gets 370-450 from a full tank. Average since May (8000 miles) is 400, cost per mile = 10-12p.

Usually the 'extra urban' (I think that's what they call it?) figure quoted by the manufacturer is about what you can expect in the real world.

At the end of the day it really does depend on what type of journeys you make:

A couple of miles into town and back on a cold engine < 20mpg :o

A long motorway drive > 35 mpg (speed doesn't seem to make much difference - between 65 - 85 mph).

I do about 2/3 motorway driving and 1/3 town and get an average 29-31 depending on how hard I drive it. Never seems to waver outside that much.

If you do a long long run and take it steady you will get 35 mpg.

If you thrash it around town you will get as low as 23ish.

Hope that helps...

That seems low from the ST. 95% of my driving is sub 30 mph stop start and I get atleats 35mpg and with a bit of motorway driving I can see it get as far as 45+MPG. I always get more than 400 miles from a full tank

On my 96 GT I get about 280-350miles per tank full, I always fill it to the top (not sure on how may gallons that is).

Used to get 280 everytime till I reset the ECU now I get about 20-30 more per tank. Sweet!

was told if the mpg is very low change the lambda senser and it soon returns back to normal(my st is between 35&45 mpg)

Don't know about that, if the sensor is knackered then yeah that would be the best course of action, but I found that resetting the ECU worked wonders for my MPG count! Infact it was scary how much it improved it! I would recommend you do this if you are getting crappy MPG rather than paying money to replace the sensor.

i find mines to differ , doing the same journeys and around the same style of driving 1 week i will get 25mpg but the next I'll get 30 mpg  , on my trip from here to London jae and home i averaged 34mpg doing 80mph down and 90mph back, was a total of 1016 miles cost me £149 in petrol
