First of of let me say hello to everyone.

Just after a bit of advice

Within the next few weeks (hopefully) I'm looking to become the proud owner of a Supra.

I've been looking at an M-reg import thats currently for sale and will possibly be going to view this.

Now this car is going for around the 6k mark and has 88,500 miles on the clock. Its been modded i.e bodykit, lowered suspension. Spose what i really want to ask is what should i be looking for when i go to view this car - I know the service history is a must. Does the price seem fair for the mileage as Im aware this is quite high mileage.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is the odo definitely in miles ?

As far as I'm aware this is in miles. Although I haven't actually spoken to the person selling yet as I'm waiting for my loan to clear.

Welcome Ash.

Even if that's miles then doesn't sound too high to me - you can normally work on up to 12K per annum, and that car's over 10 years old so anything up to 120K is average.

You don't often get full service history on imports, though you might be lucky.

Good luck with the purchase.

Tony

Full service history is a must on these cars (if import it is rare to get the serv hist from japan but make sure you have all the uk history!), make sure air filter an oil/filter have been changed roughly every 6000k miles or every year whichever comes first, start the car from cold an have a friend with you to check the colour of the smoke from the exhaust checking frequently whilst allowing the car to idle, once warm give it a bit of welly to about 3.5-4 k revs checking for smoke then up to 5 ish if excesive blue smoke appears i would be personnaly walk away, a very small amount SHOULD be ok. check bodywork thoroughly (easiest way is to look down the flanks of the car as it is easier to see any body imperfections), it is alwaysa best to view cars on a nice clear day!!.... i know what your thinking (not muich chace in sunny england!! :P )

once warm car should idle at about 700, check turbos are kicking in at right time 2000 an just over 4000 i believe, someone should be along to correct me shortly! ;....if im wrong??)

make sure you take the car for a good long run (20mins), break hard once or twice an see if the steering wheel pulls at all? (dont forget seatbelt  ), make sure car isn't over heatin' when you return from your long journey!.

this is just a few pointers, but to be completly safe try an take someone who nows alot about cars (classic car inspection might be a good idea.....200 quid though!!?)

godd luck with the buy m8, an make sure you post up some piccys when you get it.
