Hi, i am looking for a paseo for my first car.

I am wondering if they got the same engine as the yaris t'sports.

Any info that i need to know please will someone help, any info possible will be appreciated, thanks alot.

No the two engines are different and are only similar in terms of capacity and power. Few parts, if any, are interchangable AFAIK

Posted

Ok thanks.

What are they like in general?

Posted

paseo's are really nice mate - but i'm biased lol....

I've got a '92 import, had her for nearly 5 years & only a few problems, which considerd i've done over 200,000km's is pretty good going IMO...

as a first car they are ideal. low tax & class 7 insurance & cheap to run.

& when your insurance drops enough you can drop a starlet Turbo engine in like Andrew here's done to his Sera.

or maybe a 2L MR2 engine if your after insane power B)

Yeah, this is why i want one :D

I am looking for a black or silver one, dont fancy the green/turquoise or white colour.

I need one reasonably a good price and what spec/models are there and what comes with what?

Thanks.

paseos are good, solid, bulletproof cars. second gen looks infinitely better than the first, and have a more torquey motor. they're reliable (as all toyotas are) and will get you where you want to go, albeit very slowly.

Whats gen 1 and 2?

Posted

different model types. i own a second generation, J owns a first.

pics please?

your lucky then - there arn't many 1st gens around...

J

They are rank!

Posted

sorry but i actually prefer the 1st gen - but again i'm biased as i own one.

Oh & Tewkes if 1st gens are so rank, imagine them with say - a 3sgte, 4agte mazda rotory engines in them... :P (how many 2nd gen's have had those swaps?????)

J

Posted

people are lazier with the 2nd gen's...and i believe that more 1st gens were made..

Posted

Can a rotory engine fit in a gen 2??

Posted

if it fits into a gen 1, itll fit into a gen 2...its only a 1.3 L so it isnt huge. main problems are the engine mounts, the transmission to use..and the fact that its a rwd engine...in a fwd car...

they've even put a 22r engine into a paseo and converted it to rwd for some ghey " tuner " program in america...but the car wasn't streetable...

Posted

yeah but Rico - remeber thay had rotory race & drag paseo's?

the race ones sold for over 50,000 USD..

hey mate,

Welcome to the site!!

Gen 2's are a lot more common and i prefer them but as everyone in here they are bias to what they have!! lol

As far as engine mods to i would be careful about what you choose for a first car, insurance on the car FC in your name will vary but will be over £1000 to start let alone with engine mods.

I would worry about getting NCB under your belt before mods or you'll end up paying for it in insurance, if you'll get insurance with mods!

If you need any advice just ask as these lot know what there talking about!!

For any info on gen2 paseo i can offer some info but whats not known on here aint worth knowing!

Tewkes, I am in the same situation as you, going today to look at a Paseo that I will hopefully bring home, I have got insurance quotes for £1744, fully comp on the Paseo and in my experience, modifications add another 50% to that. The Paseo is an insurance group 7 car, although £1744 is because I am 17 and going to insure it on a provisional license for now, unless you are in a similar financial situation as me, can you can also afford a basic, £1500 Paseo ST go for it, but there are definatly cheaper options.

One thing to remember, to reduce the insurance, get yourself as a named driver with someone else the main drivere HOWEVER in this situation you will build 0 No Claims Bonus. Contact me if you want any advice about it, aj3001@gmail.com as I have been doing months of research on the seo and insurance
